Tired of Wasting All My Precious Time..

The Acer Maple blog

Liane La Havas

Now, that’s fresh songwriting. Love it.

You see what people can do together…?

Sonny Boy

“I’m begging you baby, cut out that off the wall jive…”

Cassandra Wilson

Such a massive influence for us. She is a genius of understatement - like a singing, female Miles Davis. Video’s not amazing but the song is…so close your eyes.

We confess we have been known to turn to sartorial matters to in an attempt to assuage the angst brought about by advancing years.
We are of the humble opinion at Acer HQ that when a man reaches a certain age he should consider wearing leather shoes for professional and social engagements and reserve sportswear for the field of play. We refrain from advertising a particular brand but suffice to say any handmade shoe from Northamptonshire with a Goodyear welted sole represents the pinnacle of our aspirations. Any overtime going? They don’t come cheap.

Sharlene!

Here’s our wonderful friend Sharlene Hector performing a beautiful acoustic versions of “You Don’y Have To Tell Me” from her EP.  Lovely guitar work from Johann Ting. Go on Shar!

Raging Fyah!

And contemporary reggae courtesy of Rodders. Don’t think it’s released yet. It sounded great loud in the car - nice writing, proper chorus.

Rodigan

On the way home from our gig on Thursday night I was lucky enough to catch set from David Rodigan. I don’t claim to be a reggae expert but I used to listen to him on Capital when I was a kid and was again struck by sense that this is a man who, despite his unpretentious, softly-spoken approach has the most profound knowledge of the music and has all the tunes.

Anyhow, take a look at this to see how the mellow BBC2 Rodigan behaves when in his natural habitat. Check the moves 4mins in.

Beautiful bossa!

There’s no video here but it still has to be shared…sounds like the breaking of dawn.
